'Modern Family' Contract Lawsuit: Cast Shows Up To Work, Looking For Money From Creators

'Modern Family' Cast Shows Up To Work, Still Looking For Money

The entire cast of "Modern Family" showed up to the rescheduled Season 4 premiere table read, according to Deadline.com.

Originally the cast was supposed to meet on Tues., July 24, but only Ed O'Neill and the young stars of the series showed up, Julie Bowen, Sofia Vergara, Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson have been in contract negotiations and skipped the table read, instead filing a lawsuit against 20th Century Fox in an effort to void their contracts.

News the cast had been after a raise first broke in March, but things intensified after the cast rejected an offer from 20th Century Fox and instead took the matters to court. Bowen, Vergara, Stonestreet, Ferguson and Burrell had reportedly been after a raise from $65,000 to $200,000 an episode. They were presented with an offer for $150,000 per episode plus the $50,000 bonus for Season 4, $200,000 per episode for Season 5, $225,000 for Season 6, and up to $325,000 for Season 9, if the show should last that long. After rejecting the offer, the five actors filed a lawsuit against 20th Century Fox looking to void their contracts saying they violate a California labor rule.
