'Mudcats': Andy Pulls A Massive Catfish Out Of A Beaver's Den (VIDEO)

Andy Pulls Massive Catfish Out Of Beaver's Den On 'Mudcats'

The world of handfishing, or noodling, is awash with rumors of catfish the size of family cars lurking in the murky waters on the bottoms of lakes and rivers.

Like their compatriots over on "Hillbilly Handfishin'," the expert noodlers on "Mudcats" (Thu., 10 p.m. EST on History) haven't produced a car-sized fish yet, but they have caught a number of whoppers.

At first, things weren't going too great for Andy and his dad Jerry as they competed to take home the title in Oklahoma's Okie Noodling Competition.

However, that changed when Andy found himself arm-deep in a beaver den. A giant flathead clamped onto his hand and Andy struggled to pull the fish out.

When the behemoth finally did emerge from the beaver's den, Jerry was suitably impressed by junior's noodling skills, saying "He's proven to me that he's learned a lot."

Andy estimated that the fish to weighed around 50 lbs, which put them firmly back in the game.

"Mudcats" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on History.
