When I was invited to participate as a non-nude extra in the gay porn parody of Justice League, I didn’t think twice. It’s the perfect combination of men, spandex and... well, sex.

What’s not to love?

The truth is, superheroes hold a special place in the hearts of queer people for many reasons. Sure, the spandex and bulging muscles don’t hurt. But like many LGBTQ people, superheroes are often outcasts living double lives; they hide who they are to be perceived as normal. Similarly, it’s what many LGBTQ people do to fit in with family, at work or even to simply exist safely.

Walking onto the set in Barcelona, I was surprised to see how much time and effort had been put into producing something so spectacular. And it was thrilling to see some of my favorite porn stars embody the superheroes about which my teenage self had so often fantasized. It was like seeing my wildest dreams come to life - and it felt so right.
