Naperville Stabbing: City Considers Stricter Liquor Laws After Shaun Wild's Death (VIDEO)

City Considers Tougher Liquor Laws After Teacher's Death

Reeling from the recent stabbing death of an elementary school teacher at a downtown bar, some Naperville City Council members have pushed for the city to enact stricter liquor laws.

The effort arrives days following the Feb. 4 death of Shaun Wild, 24, a first-year second-grade teacher at Spring Brook Elementary School. Wild was reportedly stabbed when he attempted to intervene in an altercation between a friend and another man at Frankie's Blue Room.

Daniel Olaska, 27, of Naperville, was charged with first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder in the incident.

"We can make sure everyone that comes to Naperville has a good time ... as well as leaves safely," Krause argued, according to the Tribune.

But no fellow council members reportedly took up Krause's cause. Kenn Miller, another council member, said he was hesitant to make a knee-jerk reaction to the incident, Naperville Patch reports.

"We don’t have all the facts," Miller said. "We need to take a step back and get all the facts because we don't know all the facts of the incident that happened last weekend."

Meanwhile on Tuesday, 911 tapes from the horrific night were made public. As the Daily Herald reports, at least 10 people called 911 to request aid for Wild and two other men who sustained stab wounds during the altercation.

The school where Wild taught on Monday broke the news to its students of the young teacher's passing. As Fox Chicago reports, crisis counselors were on hand at the school to help aid with students' and staff mourning.

Parent volunteer Dawn DeMay told Fox that Wild was "very energetic, very friendly, worked great with the children just a very respectable person that could have gone on to tremendous things and made an impact on a lot of children's lives in school."

A public memorial service for Wild has been slated for Brown Deer High School in Brown Deer, Wis., his hometown, on Thursday. A funeral service for close friends and family will follow the next day, according to Patch.
