ESPN's Bill Simmons has been busy over the last nine months focusing on the NBA season, so he might be forgiven if he hasn't been following the tennis world. With Wimbledon in the midst of a no-name Ladies Semifinals (Marion Bartoli, Kirsten Flipkens, Sabine Lisicki and Agnieskza Radwanska), Simmons thought he would be cute by giving a slight shot to NBC on how it would promote Saturday's Wimbledon Ladies Final.

However, NBC was quick to point out that it no longer carries Wimbledon.

It would be one thing if Simmons did this last year when it marked the first year ESPN televising the entire Wimbledon tournament, but this is Year Two of the Worldwide Leader's long-term contract. Someone in Bristol needs to give the ol' Boston Sports Guy the memo about Wimby on ESPN.

UPDATE: Simmons has acknowledged that he made a mistake.
