Neal Cedric Kelly Stabs 'Witch' To Death In Meth-Fueled Knife Fight: Police

He said he stabbed "a witch."

A Washington state man faces murder charges in the fatal stabbing of a woman that police say occurred during a meth-fueled knife fight over $40.

Police said Neal Cedric Kelly, 26, stabbed Jennie Brill, 43, as he fought another man at a Vancouver, Wash., home early Saturday morning, killing the woman in front of her daughter and six other witnesses without an apparent reason.

The Columbian reports that Kelly had been out of jail only three days when the stabbing allegedly occurred.

Kelly struggled with police when they arrived on the scene, fighting with Clark County sheriff's deputies, throwing a book case and attempting to flee through a window, according to the newspaper.

After he was arrested, Kelly allegedly told investigators he stabbed “a witch,” but did not remember hurting anyone else, KOIN reported. Kelly also allegedly stabbed witness Sterling Robin-Scott Shaver when he tired to help Brill, according to police. Brill died at the scene.

According to a separate Columbian report, Kelly was scheduled to be arraigned this week on charges of first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault and third-degree assault, but his court appearance was twice delayed due to a lack of a qualified court-certified sign language interpreter. Kelly is hearing impaired.

The newspaper reported that Kelly has an extensive criminal history in Clark County, dating back to 2008. He continues to be held without bail in Clark County jail.

As of Tuesday, Shaver remained in critical condition at an area hospital, where he is on a ventilator.
