Hunger in LA: Nearly 1 Million Without Food Every Day (VIDEO)

Nearly 1,000,000 people in Los Angeles go hungry -- right now, as of this moment. That's one out of eight Angelenos who don't have access to proper nutrition or enough to eat. The stark reality of these facts is highlighted in a video from Fed Up with Hunger, a community-wide campaign backed by The Jewish Federation of Los Angeles.

Collecting fresh fruit, vegetables and canned food donations as well as taking advantage of volunteer opportunities at local food banks are just a few of the ways you can get involved. The goals of the campaign are to make LA a hunger-free zone with the creation of a Los Angeles Council on Food Policy, to improve institutional food assistance and to make grocery stores, farmer's markets and community gardens a common sight in neighborhoods across the sprawling city.
