Playing it safe was one option. It seemed to be the option that the Georgia defense was anticipating. Safe wasn't the play that was called. Facing a 3rd down with 14 yards to gain at their own 1-yard line, Nebraska went deep for the longest play in school history. The bold call helped the Cornhuskers upend No. 22 Georgia to win the 2014 Gator Bowl.
Standing several yards deep in his own end zone, Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. unleashed a deep pass to wide receiver Quincy Enunwa. The senior wide receiver breezed past the cornerback initially defending him on the play and was wide open when Armstrong heaved the ball downfield.

The long scoring play stretched the Huskers' lead to 24-12 with 4:58 to play in the third quarter and earned Enunwa a hug on the sideline.
That 99-yard touchdown would account for Nebraska's final points of the afternoon but it would be enough to hold off Georgia. The Bulldogs closed within 24-19 but failed to find a go-ahead score in the final minutes.
"I know one thing: There will never be a longer play in the history of college football than that one," Nebraska coach Bo Pelini told reporters after the 24-19 win, via The Associated Press. "That was a big play for us."
