Watch Dave Franco's Gay Character Get Engaged In 'Neighbors 2'

It's adorable, humorous AND sweet!

Dave Franco set tongues wagging when it was revealed that his "Neighbors" character, Pete Regazolli, would be openly gay in the hotly-anticipated sequel to the smash film.

Turns out, that's not the only surprise in store for gay audiences in "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising." In this scene from the film, Pete is left speechless when his boyfriend (played by John Early) pops the question.

As Teddy, co-star Zac Efron gets in on the fun, too, crooning an earnest version of the Jason Mraz ballad, "I'm Yours," with his frat brothers.

The scene got a very enthusiastic thumbs up from Slate's Jeffrey Bloom, who called it "beautifully engineered to catch audiences off guard and then disarm them with genuine sweetness and giddy emotion."

"The sequence feels like a stinging rebuke to years of skittish comedies about male bonds, up to and including the original 'Neighbors'an unforced triumph in a movie that could have been much safer," he wrote.

We couldn't have said it better ourselves!
