Working with Graham Kolbeins of Future Shipwreck, New American Paintings recently produced a video that captures Los Angeles-based artist, Annie Lapin, at work in her studio. Her unique studio practice involves traditional and non-traditional applications of paint, the use of collage and found images, and photographing her local landscape. (Read more below)

Annie Lapin At Honor Fraser

Annie Lapin is part of a new generation of Los Angeles-based painters who are now garnering international attention. In 2010, she was awarded the inaugural New American Paintings Annual Prize, which is given to one artist annually, chosen from among thousands, to acknowledge their outstanding contributions to contemporary painting. Lapin will have a solo exhibition at LA's Honor Fraser gallery opening in late May.

New American Paintings magazine is a juried exhibition-in-print and the largest series of artist competitions in the United States.
