Republican Jeff Bell will face Democratic Sen. Cory Booker in the general election for New Jersey's Senate seat, the Associated Press reports.

Bell, a Republican operative and former aide to Ronald Reagan, bested a field of three other Republicans in Tuesday's primary to secure the nomination.

Booker was elected last fall in a special election following the death of longtime Sen. Frank Lautenberg, also a Democrat.
