The Prospector Theater is a brand new and fully functional, state-of-the-art, first-run movie theater, restaurant, entertainment and event venue in Ridgefield, Connecticut. The mission behind the Prospector is to provide adults with disabilities opportunities for meaningful employment and vocational training, which allows them to be a part of their community.

Inspired by her disabled sister, Prospector Theater is the dream come true of founder Valerie Jensen, who by complete chance, saw the theater was scheduled for demolition, took over the property and rebuilt it from the inside out. Valerie's mission with Prospector Theater is to show how community groups, businesses, and people in the private sector working together can improve the quality of lives for those with disabilities.

Valerie sat down with us to share her very personal story as well as the importance of including her fellow community members.
