New Yorker Festival 2011: Lineup Includes Nancy Pelosi, Amy Poehler, Ralph Fiennes

New Yorker Festival Lineup Announced

The New Yorker Festival has returned for its 12th year, and they've wrangled quite a lineup for this year's meeting of the minds.

From the New York Times' initial rundown of the lineup, it looks like we'll have a mix of high and low figures gracing it, from Aziz Ansari to Nancy Pelosi.

The lineup is also looking a little comedian heavy -- aside from Ansari, Amy Poehler (double-win for "Parks and Recreation"!), Zach Galifianakis, Steve Martin and Owen Wilson will be present.

Apart from the funny people, the festival will see presentations from writers including Malcolm Gladwell (who, according to the Times, will discuss the virtues of obnoxiousness) and Jonathan Franzen. The film end of things will feature David Cronenberg and Ralph Fiennes, while the music side goes indie with St. Vincent and Scissor Sisters.

Last week, the festival's blog gave these cryptic clues as to who would be present:

Which blockbuster director’s father founded a successful garden-machinery company?

Which political powerhouse counts among his/her talents the ability to shell pistachio nuts with his/her teeth?

Which British scribbler prefers Burning Man to Glastonbury?

Do you have a clue? If you sign up for their Festival Wire, you can get updates on the latest news coming out of the festival, which will run from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.
