The next U.S. Senator from the state of New Jersey is Cory Booker.

The Newark mayor was victorious in the race against Republican Steve Lonegan, a businessman and former mayor. The two were battling for the seat of the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D), who passed away in June 2013.
