AMC is leaving us all for dead.

The "The Walking Dead" Season 6 finale gave us the biggest cliffhanger in the show's history. After nearly 90 minutes of teasing, the episode ends with the Saviors lining up pretty much every character on the show (Glenn, Daryl, Rosita, Rick, Abraham, Eugene, Sasha, Michonne, Carl, Maggie and Aaron) as new villain Negan chooses one of them to die. But instead of knowing who that person is, we just see the death from the victim's perspective. Negan swings his bat down, everything goes to black and we're all left in the dark.

Well, get used to it.

The citizens of the Internet have been fervently trying to break down the episode to figure out who was on the receiving end of Negan's bat. Some even think the audio could hold a clue, but, according to showrunner Scott Gimple, you're probably wasting your time. In a conference call on Monday, the showrunner was asked by press if fans could piece together clues to figure it out, and as Negan would say, he "shut that shit down" real fast.

"I believe there is no way," said Gimple. "There are a couple things in there that might help people possibly kind of limit the amount of people who are vulnerable, but I would say I would like people not to go down that route because I don't think -- I truly don't think -- there is a way to puzzle is all out definitively."

The showrunner says he didn't include anything definitive because "Walking Dead" fans are too smart. Still, Gimple thinks someone will figure it out, "even though there aren't clues to determine it."

"I've just seen it again and again. If you put these many smart people together, I don't know if they're tapping into the idea space of it all. I don't know if we’re talking about like the collective consciousness or something. But at this point, it's amazing. People figure things out, and granted, it might be one comment among a thousand comments, but there is absolutely no doubt that someone will figure it out," said Gimple.

From what happened in the episode, our guess is it was Glenn. Still, you can't rule out that he hid under a dumpster at the last minute. You gotta watch out for those "Walking Dead" dumpsters, Negan. They can sneak up on you for sure.
