What had been a sad, not-quite-Art Deco house built in 1948 has undergone a no-surface-left-untouched renovation.

Now sleekly modern, the interiors of the 3-bed, 2.5-bath house wouldn't be out of place in a luxury condominium downtown. Any original quirks have been polished away, but here it's been done thoughtfully, with a single, simple palette of materials and details throughout.

The stair rail inside matches the railings used outside, the cabinets and hardware in the kitchen and baths are the same, and the laundry, garage and backyard are easily accessible from the kitchen.

Love the deep window frame and the simple fireplace surround. Downtown condos tend not to have terraced back yards.
