Obama Meets With Business Leaders To Hype Stimulus

Barack Obama on Wednesday rallied support from business leaders for his proposed fiscal stimulus as he struggled to build bipartisan support for the $825bn plan.

The president met chief executives from 13 large companies, including Eric Schmidt of Google and Sam Palmisano of IBM, as the House of Representatives prepared to vote on its version of the stimulus.

The bill was expected to pass with overwhelming Democratic support but little of the Republican backing that Mr Obama desperately wants in order to put a bipartisan stamp on the rescue package.
