Vintage Technology: Reddit Users Reveal How Tech Has Affected Them Over The Years

"I remember our first little black-and-white TV, and our first color set several years later, and how much tweaking you had to do to get even crappy green faced images."

Reddit, the social news sharing website, is not just for the young, but for the tech-savvy and young at heart. Recently Reddit user SOmuch2learn reached out to the site's 1.4 million active members in a post, inquiring just how many people, 62 and older, interact on the popular website.

Her post received an overwhelming response, so she posted again on her 71st birthday, this time asking how post 50s have been affected by technology over the years.

Many respondents described their experiences with vintage technology, from their first long distance call to classroom-size mainframe computers. Younger Reddit users piped up as well, reflecting on how drastically technology has changed since their high school years. But the anecdotes of those recalling the progression of technology -- from cassette to CD to MP3, for example -- are the most entertaining by far.
