Everyone knows and accepts the power of Gloria Estefan's voice, but now, thanks to Broadway's new musical On Your Feet!, you can experience the power of Estefan's story, too. With her husband and producer Emilio by her side, Estefan (played beautifully by Ana Villafañe) took the music world by storm in recent decades. This is a story not as much about love between husband and wife, but love between this immigrant couple and the music they were born to create and share.

The audience will grow excited to hear familiar songs like "Conga" and "Rhythm is Gonna Get You," and on the way witness how these songs came together and got featured on the radio and inside of clubs. This is the true story of the American Dream meets American Bandstand. Nevertheless, when the music stops, some of the show's dents begin to show.

As Emilio, Josh Segarra is outmatched on the stage by his counterpart. Segarra more than makes up for it, though, with some of the show's best one-liners and jokes. It's almost as if the show is split between the wonderful music of Gloria and the hysterics of her husband behind the scenes. Rolled into one, it's hard not to want everything to be everything, however. The show suffers in its more sentimental moments.

At the same time, you can't help but root for them to reach the top. After Gloria's infamous bus crash, which comes pretty late into the production, she battles back against the odds and once again proves she belongs back in the spotlight. Director Jerry Mitchell and choreographer Sergio Trujillo really know how to play to the characters' strengths. The dancing is top-notch throughout, full of life and energy that makes you feel transported to a different time and place. They've all earned that final bow.
