Operation Taxi Cab Confessions: Undercover Cops, Posing As Cab Drivers, Busts Florida Drug Dealers

Undercover Cops, Posing As Cab Drivers, Busts Florida Drug Dealers

Take note criminals -- the meter is running.

Police in Florida made multiple arrests late last week after completing a four month effort using undercover cops as cab drivers, according to a Monroe County Sheriff press release.

Operation Taxi Cab Confessions -- perhaps a reference to the mid-90s HBO program of a similar name -- allowed disguised detectives to build cases against alleged drug deals and thieves.

"It was a variation on a drug sting," Deputy Becky Herrin told the Keynoter. "Instead of walking the streets to solicit drug sales, they were giving people rides."

Authorities managed to purchase multiple illegal substances, including marijuana and cocaine, as well as six stolen GPS units and two stolen radar detectors, the press release said.

Among the arrested is 38-year-old Pshantell Scott, who police took into custody after she twice sold undercover officers cocaine, NBC Miami reports.

Police also made four other arrests through the operation.
