Oprah: 'Married to the Army: Alaska' Is a First for OWN (VIDEO)

Oprah's New Reality Show: 'You Have Never Seen Anything Like This' (VIDEO)

With the OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, Oprah says she's always looking to take reality television to a new and meaningful level. OWN's new series, "Married to the Army: Alaska," does just that. "For the first time ever, the Pentagon has given cameras permission to go inside the lives of seven very real Army wives... while their husbands are serving on the front lines," Oprah says. "You have never seen anything like this because it's never been done before."

Premiering Sunday, November 18 at 10 p.m. ET/9C, "Married to the Army: Alaska" introduces viewers to seven powerful women and their untold stories of sacrifice, commitment and family. "It means so much to us at OWN to honor military families," Oprah says.

"You read in the paper, '5 troops [killed] here, 4 troops [killed] there,'" says Sara Dunlap, one of the women featured on the show. "But when you're in the army, you can picture it all in your head. Someone has to look at their baby and say, 'Daddy's not coming home.' And this is the life of an Army wife that you don't hear about."

"Married to the Army: Alaska" premieres Sunday, November 18 at 10 p.m. ET/9C on OWN.
