Oscars Best Actor Nominees 2014: Leonardo DiCaprio, Chiwetel Ejiofor Among Honorees

The Best Actor Nominees Are...

The nominees for Best Actor at this year's Academy Awards were announced Thursday, Jan. 16, honoring some of the hottest names in film.

Christian Bale was nominated for his role in "American Hustle," Bruce Dern for "Nebraska," Leonardo DiCaprio for "The Wolf of Wall Street," Chiwetel Ejiofor for "12 Years a Slave," and Matthew McConaughey for "The Dallas Buyers Club." The nominees included many of the same actors who were up for the Best Actor awards at Sunday's Golden Globes. Matthew McConaughey won Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama for his part in "Dallas Buyers Club," while Leonardo DiCaprio took the honor in the Musical or Comedy category for his role in "The Wolf of Wall Street."

Daniel Day-Lewis took home the award for Best Actor at last year's 85th annual Oscars. He was honored for his role in "Lincoln," beating out Bradley Cooper for "Silver Linings Playbook," Hugh Jackman for "Les Miserables," Joaquin Phoenix for "The Master," and Denzel Washington for "Flight." Other past winners in the category include Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, Tom Hanks, and Jeff Bridges.

The 2014 Academy Awards will be hosted by Ellen DeGeneres at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre on March 2. The program will air on ABC.
