How A Bar Fight Changed Panache Desai's Life

Sometimes our wake-up calls are deeply rooted in the past.

Author and thought leader Panache Desai joined HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani to discuss the pain bullying caused him throughout high school. As a sensitive, open and empathic teenager, Desai didn't face his feelings, which led to what he calls "vibrational density" in his new book Discovering Your Soul Signature.

"The tears that we don't cry become depression, the anger that we don't feel becomes rage, the fear that we don't experience just accumulates within us to a point where we just can't deal with it anymore," he said. "And we have to get to a point where we stop and be still and just start to unveil who we are at our deepest core, which is love."

Desai's wake-up call ultimately came in the form of a bar fight in East London.

"Three people jumped me in the bar... I was there by myself. That night, subsequently someone got shot. In that moment, it's like everything stopped," he said. "I knew that carrying on, living this life, I was going to end up dead. And so in that moment, it all ended. I said to my mom, 'I've got to go away for six months and just get back to meditation, get back to my childhood, being in that meditation room, being in that love and devotion, I've got to come back to who I am.'"
