Donald Trump claims he "broke the glass ceiling" for women in construction, but you'd never know it by the looks of his campaign payroll.
The Boston Globe recently compared Federal Election Commission records for the Trump campaign's April payroll to the Clinton campaign payroll for the same month, and found a wide gender-based pay disparity among the presumptive Republican nominee's staffers.
Trump's female campaign workers, who make up about 28 percent of the entire Trump team, made on average about $4,500 in April after taking out payroll taxes and 401(k) contributions. The men on the staff made almost $6,100. That 35 percent difference is slightly higher than the pay gap nationwide.
The pay gap on the Clinton campaign wasn't nearly as wide. The report showed that women, who represent 53 percent of Clinton's staff, made $3,710, while men took home $3,760.
The Globe also looked at racial diversity in the ranks of both campaigns, by using "publicly available photos and data." Trump, who has previously touted his great relationship with "the blacks" and his love for "Hispanics" doesn't seem to have many people from either group on his campaign. According to the Globe, he had at least four black staffers and three campaign workers of Hispanic descent. The report said that people of color made up about 9 percent of his staff.
Clinton's campaign, which is much larger, has at least 170 people of color, making up nearly one-third of the staff.
