Pearl Jam At Wrigley Field 2013: Post-Grunge Rockers To Play At The Friendly Confines In July

It's Official: Pearl Jam Plays Wrigley Field In July

It's a rumor no more: Pearl Jam will take the stage at Wrigley Field in July.

After a series of tweets teasing a possible show in Chicago (see slideshow below), both the Cubs and the band confirmed early Wednesday the gig was on.

Some of the tweet hints ranged from the rather obvious—where Pearl Jam tweeted a picture of a stage being set up inside Wrigley and the hashtag #staytuned—to the more obscure with the Cubs tweeting a picture of Ron Santo's jersey and the word "ten" (Pearl Jam's debut studio album).

Vedder, an Evanston native and noted Cubs fan (he penned the Cubs-adoring tune "All The Way" for his team), has been a familiar sight in the Friendly Confines, and not just as a fan in the bleachers: Vedder joined Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello onstage for a pair of Bruce Springsteen concerts at Wrigley last summer.

The organization has reciprocated the love to their famous fan, inviting Vedder to sing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" no less than five times during homers, according to Billboard. The Pearl Jam frontman has also thrown the first pitch for a game and hit the field with the players during practice.

Wrigley is among the band's tour stops between stints in South America (headlining both Lollapalooza Brazil and Lollapalooza Chile) and Canada.

In a Jan. 2 Rolling Stone interview, Vedder said their new album was "maybe halfway there" but also said "we're taking our time," adding, "the band is as healthy as ever."

Tickets go on sale Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. CST, according to Live Nation. Tickets will be available either online or by calling 1-800-THE-CUBS. According to the Tribune, tickets will not be sold at Wrigley's box office.
