We know what you’re thinking; Diego Boneta does not bear a very striking resemblance to soccer legend Pele. But the Mexican hunk will be appearing his biopic anyway, as rival futbol star Jose.
The high-profile film actually has some very big names behind it. Imagine exec Brian Grazer is sitting in the producer’s seat and Rodrigo Santoro and Vincent D’Onofrio have committed to leading roles.
And though Diego isn’t exactly the film’s star, he will have a pivotal role. Apparently Jose was the man who gave Pele his iconic nickname.
Production has already begun in Brazil and we’re foreseeing some major Oscar potential when it’s finally released. Let’s hope Boneta gets some love from the Best Supporting Actor voters.
