Shocking PETA Video Features Young Boy Maimed In Slaughterhouse

WATCH: Does PETA Go Too Far In This Slaughterhouse Video?

Just in time for Thanksgiving, PETA has released a shocking video that chronicles the terrible journey of a turkey at the slaughterhouse. Only in this video, a little boy gets mistaken for a turkey and tumbles through the gory execution line of the factory farm.

The little boy's nose gets cut off like a turkey's beak, he is drugged with the antibiotics turkeys are fed, he is electrocuted in a bath that paralyzes turkeys, and dipped into a tub of scalding water meant to de-feather the birds.

"'Thanks!'—An Animated Trip to Holiday Slaughter" is as disturbing as it sounds, which, of course, is PETA's point. PETA wants viewers to be horrified enough to go vegan for Thanksgiving, and every day, for that matter. PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman hopes to give turkeys a reason to be thankful this year, by saving them from the gruesome end that 45 million of them face every year around Thanksgiving.

But did PETA go too far here? This video is different, for example, than another animated video with a similar message against industrial food production: Chipotle's 'Scarecrow' ad. While Chipotle's video highlights the joy of choosing natural food over industrial, PETA's version advocates avoiding meat altogether.

"Knowing how much we have in common with turkeys, it's hard to watch this video without thinking, 'What if someone did this to me?'" PETA's website explains.
