Phil Jackson, On The Daily Show, Reveals One Of His Greatest Coaching Challenges (VIDEO)

WATCH: 'One Of The Hardest Challenges I Had In Coaching'

What did The Daily Show host Jon Stewart tell legendary basketball coach Phil Jackson? That the NBA hero's mustache does not lie, of course.

Jackson, a guest on the show Tuesday, said one of the greatest challenges of his coaching career was managing the tenuous relationship between the large bodies -- and large personalities -- of Laker stars Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal. But, like a Buddhist, Jackson let most squabbles go, letting the players, as he said, "burn it out."

Like a parent who is not able to monitor every fight between siblings, he said he would only intervene when he felt it was important.

According to Jackson, Kobe Bryant still texts him a considerable amount of time about games, but the ex-coach remains off-hands with the team otherwise.

Jackson shared that his fiance, Jeanie Buss, had encouraged him to consider coaching another season but he said he was not interested. Stewart wasn't convinced.

"You're saying to me, 'I'm not interested in coaching,'" Stewart said. "But your mustache says, 'Get me on the court.'"

Jackson laughed but stuck to his guns. "My head may be interested in coaching but my body can't take it anymore," he said.
