Gelio Hernandez And Angel Busurot Arrested For Illegal Pig Slaughterhouse (GRAPHIC VIDEO)

GRAPHIC VIDEO: Pigs Slaughtered Alive At Miami Farm; Two Arrested

Two Miami men have been arrested for running an illegal slaughterhouse, thanks to an undercover investigation by the Animal Recovery Mission and United States Department of Agriculture.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Miami said Gelio Hernandez, 50, and Angel Busurot, 46, were arrested after investigators took video documenting pigs being inhumanely slaughtered and the men selling meat without inspection.

See ARM's video below. WARNING: Extremely graphic content.

Officials say Hernandez and Busurot owned and operated Finca El Novillo in unincorporated Miami, where they slaughtered goats and pigs without first making them “insensible to pain,” packed the meat in unsanitary conditions, and then sold the meat for human consumption.

In the video, the pigs are shown being shocked but still able to move. The men then slit their throats as the pigs squeal and kick.

"The animals are being beaten, they're not being fed properly," ARM's Richard Couto told WSVN. "And worst of all is that they're being taken apart prior to death."

The two were arrested last Friday. If convicted, they each face up to 15 years in prison.

The illegal slaughter of horses is also a problem in Miami-Dade. In July, Couto also investigated a case in which a former racehorse's decapitated skeletal remains found on the side of a road. In February, the body of a small horse wa found inside Miami-Dade's infamous C-9 Basin, a rural agricultural zone west of the Turnpike that is widely considered to be one of the most active horse slaughter locations in the world.
