THURSDAY, JANUARY 24

Art Los Angeles Contemporary
Barker Hangar (Santa Monica)

Opening night of Art Los Angeles Contemporary. Now in its fourth year, the fair presents 70 international and emerging galleries with a focus on Los Angeles. Programming includes artist talks, museum curator led panel discussions, various film screenings, a performance series, and Ceci N'est Pas, a special section of the fair dedicated to French artists and galleries. Tickets start at $20 and are available online. The fair continues through January 27, 2013. On Sunday, January 27 from 12-5 p.m. check out Sunday Service with Guru Rugu, the host of KCHUNG Radio's Experimental Meditation Hour and official chaplain of Art Los Angeles Contemporary, presented by East of Borneo; Guru Rugu is available to pray for artists, dealers, and collectors in need.

L.A. Art Show
Los Angeles Convention Center (Downtown)
11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Opening weekend of the 18th annual Los Angeles Art Show. This fair showcases four sections of work including modern and contemporary, historic and traditional, vintage posters, and prints. It also includes showcases from more than 100 galleries and programming including lectures, tours, special exhibits, and the discussion series Dialogs LA. Check out "To Live and Paint in L.A." at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 24-a panel discussion with Gary Baseman, Greg Simkins, and Jason Shawn Alexander. Admission begins at $15 and tickets are available online. Through January 27, 2012.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 25

Stupid Pills presents: Aurgasm #1 - The Attack of the Drones
Hyperion Tavern (Silverlake)
7 p.m.-12 a.m.
Archie Carey debuts an original crescendo of otherworldly sounds (accompanied by David Duncan, experimental bagpiper). Listeners are invited to contemplate aerial vs. aural drones over beer and cake. Doors at 7 p.m., performance at 8:45 p.m. Free.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 26

Museum Free-For-All
Locations and Times Vary
This two day event offers free admission to 19 Los Angeles art institutions including the Annenberg Space for Photography, the Hammer Museum, The Getty Center and Getty Villa, MOCA, and more. The event continues on Sunday, January 27, 2013.

Sean Townley: The Mocking Hand
Night Gallery (Downtown)
8-10 p.m.
Opening reception for an exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist Sean Townley. The sculptural work in The Mocking Hand explores the concepts of anachronism and linear time. This event is the inaugural exhibition at Night Gallery's new downtown warehouse space. On view through February 24, 2013.
