Artist Walkthrough: Sterling Ruby

Los Angeles-based contemporary artist Sterling Ruby, known for his biomorphic ceramic sculptures, nail polish drawings, and different forms of collage, leads a walkthrough of LACMA's current exhibition Drawing Surrealism. Tickets are required for this free event and are available at the ticket office one hour before the start of the event. This event is sponsored by the Modern and Contemporary Art Council.
Lecture: Why Contemporary Art Gives Me the Blues
The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA (Downtown)

Presented in conjunction with the current exhibition Blues for Smoke, MOCA curator Bennett Simpson discusses the vitality and innovation at the core of the blues tradition as a major catalyst of the experiment within modern and contemporary art. This lecture is free with museum admission.

Paul Pescador: 3,4,5, and 8

This midnight screening event features filmmaker Paul Pescador's new work 3,4,5, and 8. Examining both the genres of the musical and the essay film, 3,4,5, and 8 is a stop-motion animation made up of constructed imagery, found footage, and musical sequences. It is a sequel to Pescador's previous body of work 1, 1 1/2, 2, which premiered at Human Resources in 2011.
