Malin Akerman's New Show & More Casting News

Move over Jason Bateman and Jessica Walter, Portia de Rossi has a new TV family. According to TVLine, Malin Akerman and Jean Smart have been cast in de Rossi's new ABC comedy, "The Smart One."

Akerman, known for "Watchmen" and "Childrens Hospital," will play de Rossi's sister in the comedy from Ellen DeGeneres and "Samantha Who?" co-creator Donald Todd. The show follows two sisters: de Rossi's smart one and Akerman's dumb one. De Rossi's character goes to work for her dimmer, but more popular sister who is a former beauty queen currently serving as the mayor of a city.

"Ugly Betty" star Michael Urie is plotting a return to TV.
Urie has joined the cast of the CBS pilot "Partners" about two best friends, one straight and one gay. Urie will play the gay best friend. "One Tree Hill" star Sophia Bush is also on-board the pilot. [TV Guide]

"The L Word" star Kate Moenning has joined the cast of Showtime's "Ray Donovan."
Moenning will play Lena, the edgy second-in-command to Liev Schreiber's Ray Donovan. [TVLine]

"Eureka" might be ending, but that doesn't mean we've seen the last of series star Colin Ferguson.
Ferguson will star in Bill Lawrence's Fox pilot "Like Father," a comedy loosley based on the "Cougar Town" co-creator's relationship with his father. [THR]
