Rachel Maddow Mocks Republican Criticism: 'President Obama Killed God! Everybody Freak Out!' (VIDEO)

Rachel Maddow Mocks GOP 'Freak Out'

Rachel Maddow loves a good Republican freak out...especially over a story that didn't even happen.

The MSNBC host discussed the huge outrage among Republicans that struck on Tuesday after word leaked that the president had removed the words "under God" from his reading of the "Gettysburg Address" for a PBS documentary. Conservative media was up in arms over the omission, reporting the story with accusatory headlines like "Obama Cuts 'Under God' Out Of Gettysburg Address."

"Yeah, he did not do that," Maddow said.

Indeed, Maddow explained that several versions of the "Gettysburg Address" exist and that the maker of the documentary, Ken Burns, gave Obama a version of the speech that did not include the phrase "Under God." The conservative coverage of this story is just one more example of the "incoherent, blinding disdain for this particular president," Maddow said.

Once the media got hold of the update, they began posting their "embarrassed corrections" about this Obama critique "that did not exist." But even still, not every news outlet is admitting their mistake, she said.

"In America, at least, that would be the end of the story," Maddow said. "In conservative media landistan, this scandal will never die because President Obama killed God! Everybody freak out!
