Rahm Emanuel Returns To White House, Will Meet With President Obama

Rahm Heads To White House: Will Visit Family, President Obama

Chicago Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel is returning to Washington Friday to visit his family and President Barack Obama.

Emanuel, who has not returned to the White House since he was chief of staff, will spend the next two weekends visiting his family there, the Chicago Tribune reports.

He will meet with the President in the Oval Office Friday morning.

Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times reports on his plans for the next few weekends:

On March 12, Emanuel will be the guest of the Chicago Sun-Times at the Gridiron Club annual dinner here, which Obama will attend.

On March 11, the Stanley Cup-winning Chicago Blackhawks will be at the White House to be honored by Obama and first lady Michelle, with the invite list to include -- no wonder -- a lot of Chicagoans. No official word on whether Emanuel will attend, but I would bet on it.

Emanuel has said previously that his family will be moving back to Chicago once the school year is finished. He will be sworn in as mayor on May 16.
