'Raising Hope': Nobody Wants To Be The Dumbest One In The Family (VIDEO)

Nobody Wants To Be Dumbest On 'Raising Hope'

After realizing that there was a good chance Hope would grow up to be smarter than him, Jimmy decided to go back and get his GED on "Raising Hope" (Tue., 9:30 p.m. EST on Fox). This started a chain reaction in the house, as neither Burt nor Virginia wanted to be known as the dumb one. So all three wound up in the classes, taught by a teacher (Fred Willard) who remembered them all from their less-than-glorious high school years.

Apparently, all they needed was some good tutoring, which they each got from a different supporting member of the cast. Jimmy worked with Sabrina and picked up a lot about math, while Burt learned English from Frank and Maw-Maw clued Virginia in on history -- through song!

The end result was that they each scored well in the one area they studied, but failed miserably in the others. Hope apparently passed the pre-test by scribbling in the right circles at random.

So the Chances decided to go "A-Team" -- rather than just switching tutors, maybe? -- and put Jimmy's name down on the part of the test they excelled at. To emphasize how stupid they apparently are, the combined tests under Burt and Virginia's names were the two lowest scores ever seen on a GED. But at least Jimmy has an unearned GED now.

"Raising Hope" airs every Tuesday night at 9:30 p.m. EST on Fox.
