St. Louis has lost its NFL franchise β just as it did in 1988 β and the midwest city has made a strong statement about its feelings for team owner Stan Kroenke.
Last week, as the final decision about a relocation to Los Angeles was looming, a St. Louis radio show host launched a campaign to purchase Kroenke a giant pile of animal shit.
On Wednesday β a day after the move became official β Kelly Manno followed through on her promise and sent him a $250 βpoop cocktail.β
And it wasn't just any old pile. During her podcast, Manno placed the record-breaking order (30 pounds!) with I Poop You, a "professional poop delivery service" based in the Rams' new home state, California.
"St. Louis is pissed off," Manno explained on her Monday podcast. "And here's one thing that I have learned about St. Louis through this whole debacle. St. Louis is like having a crazy relative that you can talk bad about -- but nobody else can talk bad about them, or you'll kill them. We can trash it all day long, but when Kroenke trashes it, you're getting poop."
In his 29-page submittal to the NFL, Kroenke blasted St. Louis's economy, saying it βlags, and will continue to lag, far behind in the economic drivers that are necessary for sustained success of an NFL franchise."
Faced with a decision about which kind of animal excrement (cow, horse, pig, chicken, goat) to send Kroenke, Manno asked if she could opt for a mix.
A representative of I Poop You told Manno he would be happy to prepare the "cocktail." "Don't worry," he told Manno during the podcast, "I will take care of you guys, and it is going to be the biggest order anyone's sent or received on this planet so far." The expensive mess is currently en route to Kroenke's doorstep -- St. Louis' way of wishing Kroenke well on his new adventures out west.
The container of crap is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of negative reactions from the "Gateway to the West."
Some Rams fans, or former fans, local Fox 2 Now reports, drove past Rams Park to throw out unwanted jerseys and team gear, including one jersey that read, "Take this with you. Don't come back."
And when news of the move began to spread during Tuesday's St. Louis Blues NHL game, the fans erupted in chants of "Kroenke sucks."
Andy Cohen, a St. Louis native and host of Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live," also had a message for Kroenke.
While on air, Cohen challenged Kroenke's comments that St. Louis is a "struggling" city by pointing out that it took the No. 1 spot on The Wall Street Journal's list of Americaβs Top Sports Cities in 2015.
"When this jackass said he wanted a new stadium," Cohen said, "St. Louis offered him a $1.1 billion, open-air stadium, but he still decided to leave. I can forgive the hairpiece that makes Donald Trump's look normal, but I can't forgive this."
Cohen then threw up two middle fingers, saying "That's for you, buddy."
Unfortunately for St. Louis fans, none of these gestures can keep their beloved Rams at home.
