Raquel Welch, 1960s Sex Symbol, Pouts In A Turtleneck (PHOTO)

Raquel Welch Makes A Turtleneck Look Smokin'

Raquel Welch spent much of her career in a swimsuit. In fact, it was the animal-skin bikini in "One Million Years B.C." that propelled her to stardom (it now hangs in the Smithsonian Museum). Who ever would have guessed that her bodacious bod hindered her childhood dream of becoming a ballerina? At 17 her instructor told Welch that she didn't have the "right" body and would do better as a comedienne. Welch turned to acting and found international fame, even winning a Golden Globe for her role in "The Three Musketeers" in 1974.

In this 1968 photo the American actress riffs on the title of her autobiography "Beyond the Cleavage", and wears the ultimate anti-cleavage garment, the turtleneck. She makes the normally staid look (and favorite of the late Steve Jobs) sultry. With her trademark big hair, nude lips, and lashes that a Kardashian would be jealous of, she firmly cemented her sex symbol status. Will you wear a turtleneck this fall?
