Raul Lopez Foul Ball Catch: Father Of Christian Lopez, Fan Who Caught Jeter's 3000 Hit, Makes Amazing Grab (VIDEO)

All In The Family: Father of Fan Who Caught Jeter's 3000th Hit Snags Foul Ball At Yankees' Clincher

Dedicated New York Yankees fan Christian Lopez made headlines after he caught Derek Jeter's 3,000th hit -- a home run -- and graciously returned it to the Yankees' shortstop earlier this summer. Instead of demanding an enormous amount of money for the ball, Lopez opted to return it to Jeter. For his generosity, the Yankees awarded him season tickets and plenty of other prizes.

Knowing that the 23-year-old from Highland Mills, N.Y. is such a Yankees devotee and that he does have tickets, it should come as no surprise that he was at Yankee Stadium with family and friends on Wednesday to watch the Bronx Bombers clinch their 16th playoff trip in 17 years and then wrapping up the A.L. East title by sweeping a doubleheader from the Tampa Bay Rays.

What should come as a surprise was that Raul Lopez, Christian's father, made an unbelievable diving catch on a foul ball.

In the second inning of the nightcap, Tampa Bay's Sean Rodriguez ripped one foul into the third base stands and Lopez, perhaps saving another fan from getting beamed, made a more impressive play on the ball than his son back in July. After making the grab, and falling on top of a couple people in the row in front of him, Lopez got to his feet and celebrated the catch with the rest of his section while Christian sat there hysterically laughing.

In this case, the phrase should go "like son, like father."
