Reagan National Airport Metrorail Closure: Buses Will Replace Trains For Weekend Travelers

Plan Ahead: No Weekend Metrorail Service At National Airport

WASHINGTON -- For those flying in or out of Reagan National Airport this weekend, plan ahead: Metro will be shutting down Blue and Yellow Line rail service between the King Street and Pentagon City stations starting Friday night for track rehabilitation work.

While the closure will limit public transit connections between Alexandria and the District of Columbia, it will also mean that there will be no rail service to or from the airport through Sunday.

Metro will operate a variety of shuttle bus services, including an express route from the Metro Center station entrance at 12th and G streets NW.

Beyond that downtown-to-airport express route, Metro will have three other shuttle bus routes to get around the gap in service on the Blue and Yellow lines. One will run between King Street and the airport; a second will connect the airport with Crystal City and Pentagon City, where Blue and Yellow line trains coming from the District of Columbia will terminate; and a third will be a local link between the King Street and Pentagon City stations via the Crystal City and Braddock Road stations, skipping the airport.

All Metro shuttle buses at the airport will operate from Terminal B lower-level arrivals roadway, outside the Alaska Airways ticket counter. More information here.
