Red Line Construction: Brookland, Rhode Island Ave. Stations Closed

Red Line Blues: 2 Stations Closed For Weekend Construction

WASHINGTON -- Metro will be shuttering two Red Line stations this weekend as part of track construction and suspending train service between the Fort Totten and New York Avenue stations. Starting at 10 p.m. Friday, the Brookland and Rhode Island Avenue stations will be closed and those stations will be connected to the Fort Totten and New York Avenue stations with free shuttle bus service. The work is scheduled to wrap up before the start of service on Monday.

In addition to the shuttle bus connection, Metro is advising rail passengers to use the Green Line to travel between Fort Totten and points downtown.

Blue Line trains will share the same track between the Stadium-Armory and Addison Road station. Green Line trains will share the same track between the Fort Totten and Prince George's Plaza station. Yellow Line trains will terminate at Mount Vernon Square and not service the Shaw, U Street, Columbia Heights, Georgia Avenue and Fort Totten stations, which will be served by Green Line trains every 16 to 20 minutes.
