Rick Scott Makes Reelection Efforts Official, Files Necessary Paperwork For 2014 Campaign

Rick Scott Makes It Official

Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) made his reelection efforts official Tuesday, filing the necessary paperwork to seek a second term in office.

Scott opened his official campaign account and turned paperwork in to the state Division of Elections Tuesday, according to the AP.

The move was not unexpected -- Politico reported in February Scott had planned a $100 million reelection campaign, the most expensive in state history. By October, Scott had already raised $18.5 million for his reelection campaign, according to figures tallied by the Tampa Bay Times.

A recent Quinnipiac University poll suggested Scott may have trouble against his opponent, former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (D). The poll showed Crist with a 7-point lead over Scott.
