Ronda Rousey is currently a global phenomenon and the biggest name in mixed martial arts. The fighter is such a large attraction, in fact, that her Nov. 14 fight against Holly Holm is on pace to break a UFC attendance record.
According to Australia's Herald Sun, tickets for the Rousey-Holm fight, which will take place in Melbourne's Etihad Stadium, "sold out as fast as the [Australian Football League] Grand Final."
The Herald Sun reports that ground seating will also be set up, adding 15,000 more seats to the venue. This would increase the stadium capacity for the event up to 70,000 people. That total would break the current record of a 55,724-strong crowd in Toronto that witnessed a UFC event four years ago, The Sun notes.
Rousey's rise in popularity has resulted in a rise in compensation. In a recent interview with Fortune, UFC spokesperson Dave Sholler broadly discussed the bantamweight's financial success. “Rousey is currently making more in UFC compensation than any other current champion. She is the leader in the clubhouse,” he said.
Sholler told Fortune he couldn't get into specifics because the UFC is "a private company" and many of the fighters "don't want their salaries disclosed."
Rousey did tell TMZ that she makes more money than Floyd Mayweather does "per second."
Rousey's last match was at the beginning of August, knocking out Brazilian Bethe Correia in 34 seconds. The bantamweight champion has defeated each of her last three opponents in less than a minute and will seek to continue that streak come November.
She has already started doing a bit of trash-talking last week. “I wish I had a chance do some more touristy things," Rousey said of her travels. "After I beat Holly, I will have some time.”
Rousey will have to back that talk up in a few months with the world watching, and 70,000 people in attendance.
