Rory McIlroy Sinks Chip Shot At Ryder Cup 2012 (VIDEO)

Rory Sinks Incredible Chip Shot

When European Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal stressed getting off to a fast start the day before the 2012 Ryder Cup, this might have been what he had in mind.

Europe's first pairing of world No. 1 Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell heated up early and on the fourth hole, the 2012 PGA Championship winner provided what might end up being one of the highlights of the contest.

Going up against Brandt Snedeker and Jim Furyk, both drives from McIlroy and McDowell found the rough with McIlroy's landing about 40 feet from the hole. The 23-year-old set up for a chip shot and gave it a good strike, landing the ball on the green.

Once his shot touched down, it started to roll... and roll.. and roll.. all the way into the cup.

If Tiger Woods wasn't intimidated of Rory already then perhaps this shot did the trick. Regardless, McIlroy let out a big fist pump and gave McDowell an emphatic high-five.

Olazabal said on Thursday that the crowd at Medinah Country Club would be on the USA's side, but it didn't sound like it when McIlroy sunk the chip shot.

The shot put pressure on Snedeker to make a long putt, but the American missed, allowing McIlroy and McDowell to even things up.
