More evidence that moms get s**t done: Supreme Court Justice and general superstar Ruth Bader Ginsburg has attributed getting through law school to having her daughter, Jane.
In an interview with The Atlantic, Ms. Notorious herself said, “I attributed my success in law school largely to Jane,” she said. “I went to class at 8:30 a.m., and I came home at 4:00 p.m., that was children’s hour. It was a total break in my day, and children’s hour lasted until Jane went to sleep. Then I was happy to go back to the books, so I felt each part of my life made me rested from the other.”
It may seem counterintuitive, but research has shown that women with children do ultimately outperform the childless at work, possibly because they are forced to be better organized.
Referring to her priorities, she says, “Having Jane gave me a better sense of what life is.”
RBG also credits her supportive partner, Marty, for taking on more work at home while she prioritized other things ... like, you know, the women’s movement. Seriously ― Marty took over the “kitchen” while RBG co-founded the Women’s Rights Project at the American Civil Liberties Union in the 70s.
