Ryan Grant: Ndamukong Suh's Suspension 'Needs To Be Longer'

Packers Player Says Ndamukong Suh's Suspension Is 'Absurd'

Earlier this week, the NFL levied a two-game suspension against Detroit defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh for stomping on an offensive lineman during the Lions' Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers.

Suh disagreed with the penalty and scheduled a hearing on Thursday to appeal the suspension in hopes of having it reduced.

But according to Packers running back Ryan Grant, he should have to sit out longer.

"Do I think it needs to be longer? Yeah, I do. I think it's absurd," Grant told WSSP radio in Milwaukee. "It was about as overboard as you can get what he did; it's just not football."

Following the game, from which Suh was ejected, he initially defended his actions, claiming he lost his balance. But later, Suh issued an apology to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, which many, including Grant, questioned the sincerity of.

"I'm not a fan of the apology, I'm not a fan of what he said. Anybody in hindsight can say all that, but we're talking about something that's not exactly a first occurrence," Grant noted. "There have been issues, there have been talks and communication with the commissioner and across the board."

Since entering the league in 2010, Suh has been fined a total of $42,500 for a multitude of hits deemed to be illegal. In August, Suh was fined $20,000 by the NFL for a hit on Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton during a pre-season game. WIth his infractions mounting, Suh even set up a meeting with Goodell in October to clarify why he has been fined in the past. This meeting came shortly after Suh found himself mired in another controversy for reportedly taunting Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan as he lay on the ground injured.

The Lions and Packers both currently sit atop the standings in the NFC North and will play each other again week 17 in Green Bay.
