Marvel fans got quite the surprise on Monday night when Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively showed up at an early screening of "Deadpool."
The unsuspecting fans, who thought they were just going to see a few scenes of the upcoming superhero flick, were also surprised to find out that they were getting the chance to see the whole film.
Reynolds, who plays the trash-talking titular antihero, shared a photo from the screening on Instagram Monday with the caption, "Well, that went well. Surprising an entire theater full of people with an early screening of #Deadpool. Thank you everyone at VSauce for your help."
Reynolds reportedly made his way into the theater during a pre-screening Q&A session to talk about the film and its production.
According to People, the Canadian actor told the crowd, "I know we were going to show you guys some footage but ... hell, you wanna just see the whole film? Let's just show you the whole movie!"
Lively took in all the action from somewhere in the back of the theater. The former "Gossip Girl" star reposted her husband's pic on Instagram with an arrow pointing to where she was sitting.
"Who's that babe in the back?! It was my first time seeing the movie tonight -- yes, at the surprise screening for the fans, I mean who do I have to sleep with to get into this movie?!" Lively joked in her caption. "Have to say... Best. Movie. Ever. No joke."
(Note the couple's use of the skull and poop emojis spell out "Deadpool," which is part of the film's genius marketing campaign.)
And as if the world wasn't excited enough about the latest Marvel flick, the lucky fans took to Twitter to share their excitement about the film. (Just rubbing it in.)
February 12 can't come soon enough!
