1 Dead, Several Injured In Shooting, Stabbing At Motorcycle Expo

Seven people were reportedly taken to area hospitals.

One person was killed and several others wounded after a shooting and stabbing spree at a motorcycle expo outside the Coliseum in Denver, an altercation possibly between motorcycle gangs.

Four people were shot, and one stabbed just after 1 p.m. at the National Western Stock Show complex, in what Denver Police Chief Robert White called an "exchange of gunfire." One person died, three were in critical condition and another three received minor injuries.

No arrests had been made, but a person of interest was being questioned, police said. Most people involved in the altercation were in a motorcycle club of some kind, White said. "More than likely it was a fight," White added.

The Colorado Motorcycle Expo is being held this weekend at complex, which sits nearby the Denver Coliseum. Sundays event was cancelled following the violence. There were approximately 10,000 people at the event, which did not have security screening, according to the Denver Post.

Bob Cook, who claims to have witnessed the shooting, told the Post that he heard two shots fired and then people dived for cover. "Everyone started running, a couple of guys went out the south side that were shot and one went out the north that was shot," witness Trey Schipper told KCNC.
