SFMOMA Closing: Final Exhibit, Christian Marclay's 'The Clock,' Revealed (PHOTOS)

San Francisco has been licking its wounds over news that the beloved SFMOMA will be closing for nearly three years starting this summer. (Albeit for a remodel and expansion that sounds awesome.)

But there are some silver linings, and chief among them is the museum's recently announced final exhibit: Christian Marclay's mesmerizing video installation, "The Clock."

Marclay, a famed Swiss visual artist, spent three years perfecting "The Clock," a 24-hour series of carefully curated film clips, chronicling every minute of the day.

Scenes from '60s thrillers, old Westerns and hundreds of other films count down 24 hours set to local time. Think: James Bond checking his wristwatch, Richard Gere dabbing cocaine off an alarm clock in "American Gigolo," and a terrified Christian Bale hiding behind the train in "3:10 to Yuma."

Guests can stop by for a portion, or make themselves comfortable on one of the IKEA loveseats SFMOMA reportedly ordered for the occasion.

Admittedly, we had a moment wrapping our head around the concept. That is, until we caught a glimpse of a pirated cell phone video of a three-minute clip. (We won't repost here, but we won't blame you for jumping on over to Boing Boing to check it out.)
