500-Pound Piano Stolen From Park

NEW YORK -- How do you steal a white 500-pound piano sitting in a public park?

That's what a nonprofit arts group that placed the piano in New York City wants to know.

Sing for Hope director Emily Walsh says the instrument was last seen Sunday night at a park in the Bronx. It's one of dozens of upright pianos placed around the city during a two-week project sponsored by the organization.

"I think that the community value and the emotional value is incredibly high," she told WCBS. "Especially in communities that don't have regular access to the arts," she said.

While the piano has wheels, there was no sign that the piano was carted away, so whoever stole it would have had to have lifted it off the ground.

The search for the piano is ongoing.
