Stamford Christmas Fire: Windward School Sets Up Memorial Fund For 3 Badger Girls Killed

School Organizes Memorial Fund For 3 Connecticut Girls Killed In Fire

As the Stamford community continues to mourn the death of the three little girls who died in a tragic Christmas fire, the school they attended is making sure that their legacies live on.

The Windward School announced Tuesday that it will set up a scholarship fund and plant a garden in memory of the Badger girls, MyFoxNY.com reports.

"We've all taken this personally. It's a tremendous unimaginable loss," Windward Headmaster Dr. John Russell told the news outlet. "We wanted to find a way that we could memorialize Sarah, Lily, and Grace's lives."

The girls' father, Matthew Badger, established a foundation in Sarah, Lily and Grace's honor to bring the arts to public schools.

Police are still investigating the cause of the fire and believe that Michael Borcina, the mother’s partner, may have inadvertently started the fire by leaving burning embers in a mud room.
